Hey all, the company I work for is looking for a Destop Support Specialist
for a 3-month (likely to be extended) gig. Pay would be anywhere from
$14-19/hr depending on experience. The description is below, please feel
free to forward on to any of your friends or anyone that might fit the bill.

IT Environment:

They have about 3500 workstations, 3200 of those are Windows 2000 but will
be going to XP – they are actually in the process of this migration,
performing the laptops first then the desktops. They have about 300
Macintosh machines predominately running OS 10. Most of their hardware is
older (4-5) years old and will need to be upgraded to accommodate XP. This
means a lot more hands on work.

Workstation Services Team:

This is the team the desktop support technician will work in. This team is
about 6 people deep and works closely with the helpdesk. The helpdesk has
about 7 people on it. WST is responsible for the installation / support of
hardware and operating system software on the desktop/laptops.

Desktop Support Position:

The desktop support position is a 3 month contract begin the last week in
August and going through the end of November. *Most likely the position
will be long term, *however as WST anticipates losing someone else from the
team in Oct. This person will be heavily involved in the XP upgrade project
including installing hardware and software programs at the desktop,
troubleshooting any issues associated with that process, as well as
performing all the normal desktop duties such as move/adds/changes, hardware
install/upgrades/troubleshooting.

Must Haves:
2-3 years desktop support experience in an enterprise environment – not
someone who has owned their own small "consulting company" fixing computers
for friends. Strong Windows 2000, XP, hardware / software install /
configuration/ troubleshooting skills, peripheral install / troubleshooting
skills. Macintosh experience is a plus
