[Madlug] thoughts on changing up nights of week sometimes

Hi all,

I brought this up at the meeting Friday, but of course the people most
affected by this are not there on Friday, so I thought I'd bring it up
to the list.

I know Friday has been brought up as a bad time for some people, so
I'm wondering what people think about doing one Tuesday and one Friday
each month.  In my proposed change, we'd meet the second Friday of
each month and then the last Tuesday.  The last Tuesday is when Web608
has their month geekDinner, so we'd be tagging along with them.  I
spoke with Abraham Williams, who is in charge of Web608, and he's cool
with this.  We'd lose out some of our Linuxness by doing this, but
would also allow us to spread the positives of FOSS and Linux

Even if we don't team up with Web608, I'm still in favor of doing
different days.  The only argument against not doing a different day
was that people would forget the day.  If I'm sending out reminders,
that shouldn't be an issue.  Also, the events will appear on
http://web608.org's tech calendar, regardless of the day.  I'd prefer
Tuesdays, Fridays or the weekend because those are the days I don't
have the late pager at work.  However, I'm up for suggestions for
other days.  If we pick a day other than Tuesday, Friday or a week
day, I will not be able to get there until 7:30 at the earliest.  We
could do the 2nd Friday and the last Sunday, for instance.  If we
stick with weekend days, I think Friday and Sunday are the way so
people the go out of town for the weekend can either leave later or
come back earlier.

There's also been discussion of having the event some place where
there's a projector.  I'd like this too.  However, the space I can get
us with a projector is on the West Side.  If someone can get us space
on campus, that might be better.  So, the projector issue is really
separate from the night issue...we can continue to have meetings every
other Friday and just go where their is a projector.

Thoughts?  If you can't make it on Fridays and you'd like to come, you
need to be vocal.  Friday night is absolutely a fine time for me and
there's no reason to change if people don't feel they are missing out.
