Hi,

this is too good to let it pass:

http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1556944/linux-saves-aussie-electricity

"A Windows virus hit the networks of Intergral Energy and, according
to a submission to
Slashdot, the virus managed to spread to the operator display consoles
in the control room.

Quick thinking techies in the control systems department of the
utility swapped the
infected Windows boxes for machines running Linux that they were using
for development."

As they say, "monocultures bad, diversity good". I will add that this
kind of setup is rare, as
most system(s) components are deployed on a single platform
(windows/*nix) for money
reasons. I wonder if what has really happened was that the new
windows-based system
was in place to replace the linux boxes, and had no AV (yet or at
all). Than all they
had to do was to swap the hardware, and bring the old system back online.
