open source OS on it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
depends on your needs. Wikipedia [1] has a decent writeup, but I am
not sure how up to date is the information.
I was searching for something too as the official firmware is
atrocious. In 2004 or so, I went through all of the projects in
existence (mature enough to have some form of packages and release
control). After a few neat projects I have found Tomato [2], and
looked no more. Recent (2008) search for anything better turned out
nothing even close.
Tomato is based on HyperWRT, _very_ stable, and just plain works. The
interface is very well designed, QOS works, log reporting
(clients/link util/etc) and admin optionis are easy to find and even
easier to work with.
